Former teacher Siebe named Farragut High School principal

As an English teacher at Farragut High School from the 2001-02 school year to April 2007, Ryan Siebe left a favorable impression on one of the assistant principals soon to be under Siebe’s direction.

“I get excited any time we get a person who is capable of doing the job,” Dwayne Simmons, an FHS assistant principal and veteran educator at the school, said about Siebe, recently appointed FHS principal effective in

the 2016-2017 school year. “He’s very academic, and that’s what we’re all about.

“He was an excellent teacher, and I think he got along really well with most of the staff. The kids liked him.”

Dr. James McIntyre Jr., superintendent of Knox County Schools, announced his decision to appoint Siebe Monday, June 10, following three years serving as principal at Carter High School.

Cheryl Hickman, director of Secondary Education for KCS, was principal at Carter prior to Siebe’s tenure.

“I had the opportunity to work closely with Mr. Siebe during his transition as principal of

Carter High School as I transitioned to director of Secondary Education,” Hickman said. “I was able to experience firsthand his commitment and investment in the Carter school community, which is a quality he will carry over as he begins his principalship at Farragut High School.

“With Mr. Siebe’s record of leadership and his strong commitment to student and community engagement, we feel that he will do an excellent job in continuing the great work that is happening at Farragut High.”

Siebe began serving KCS in the 2000-01 school year as

an English teacher at Powell Middle School.

A member of KCS inaugural class of Principal Leadership Academy, Siebe began his administrative career as an assistant principal at Fulton High School in the 2008-09 school year. Siebe continued his administrative role as an assistant principal at both West High School and Austin-East Magnet High School.

Before coming to Knox County, Siebe served as an English teacher at Science Hill High School in Johnson City for Summer School and as an English teacher at Unicoi County High School.

Siebe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Milligan College and a Master of

Arts degree in instructional leadership from Tennessee Tech University. He also holds an Educational Specialist degree in educational administration and supervision from The University of Tennessee.
