Farragut High School’s Marching Admirals braved the heat as they spent two weeks in band camp July 17-21 and July 24-28, practicing for this year’s program, “Just Fantasy,” focusing “on our interpretation of Freddy Mercury’s poetry and the music of Queen,” FHS band director Kenneth Carrico III said.

“The band is the biggest it has been in quite some time, as we have almost 190 total this fall, and 158 of those are part of the Competitive Marching Band,” he added.

This year, the Marching Admirals have three drum majors: seniors Jessica Garner and Ellie Williams and sophomore Caroline Woods

The first live performance of “Just Fantasy” will be this Friday, Aug. 18, at FHS during the Admirals’ first varsity football game of the season versus Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett.
