Hardin Valley Academy presents ‘Peter Pan’

Hardin Valley Academy’s musical theater class is taking flight in its production of “Peter Pan the Musical.”

The production, which is open to the public, is scheduled for 7 p.m., Friday, April 22, 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., Saturday, April 23, and 3 p.m., Sunday, April 24, in the auditorium of HVA at 11345 Hardin Valley Road.

There will be a character meet-and-greet event after the show on Saturday.

Cost for the event is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Preschoolers will be admitted free. All ticket sales will be at the door.

“Peter Pan” is the story of a boy who refuses to grow up and fights to protect Wendy from Captain Hook.

There are 60 students in the production’s cast and crew, Robert Warren, HVA theater teacher and stage manager said.

Allison Parton will portray Peter Pan, Amy Linn will portray Wendy Darling and Noah Skurtu will portray Captain Hook. Teresa Scoggins is the director and Peggy Jones is directing the orchestra.

“We are always pushing ourselves to do more so flying seemed like the challenge we wanted to do,” Warren said. “We have been working on [the production] since January, every day in school and twice a week after school.”

Warren said the cast and crew are excited and nervous.

“We put in the fly rigging this weekend [April 14 and April 15], and started flying” he said. “It is so much fun.”
