Surrounded by tournament volunteers and officials on the 18th green at Fox Den Country Club in Farragut, J.J. Spaun of Los Angeles is all smiles holding his crystal Jim Wakefield Memorial Trophy after winning Web.com Tour’s News Sentinel Open presented by Pilot Sunday, Aug. 21. Finishing 26-under-par (258), Spaun, 26, nailed a 12-foot birdie putt on the 18th green to finish the final round at 66 (5-under) and pocket $99,000. Eventual runner-up Sam Ryder (25-under) then missed an 8-foot birdie putt that, if made, would have resulted in a sudden-death playoff.
