25th Annual Free Day of Putt-Putt Sept. 12

Farragut families again will have a day to play putt-putt for free when town of Farragut and Putt-Putt Golf & Games holds the 25th Annual Free Day of Putt-Putt.

This year, the event is slated from noon to 9 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12, at Putt-Putt Golf & Games, 164 West End Center, Farragut.

“The event is designed to build community and to provide a safe, entertaining activity for families,” Chelsey Riemann, Farragut Public Relations coordinator, said.

“Mrs. Vaughan and her staff do a great job hosting the event,” Lauren Cox, Farragut Special Events and Program coordinator, said.

The Town partners with businesses in events, such as Free Day of Putt-Putt, to provide activities for families and offers an opportunity for residents to get acquainted with tone another, she said.

“We’ve done it every year for 25 years,” Marva Vaughan, Putt-Putt Golf & Games owner, said. “It’s something we do for the community to show our appreciation for its support through the years and this year.”

Players of all ages can play Putt-Putt free during the event, Riemann said.

Putt-Putt Golf & Games has been open at West End Center since March 1991.

“Owning the business is very hard work but it’s something for which you can earn a lot of rewards,” Vaughan said. “We’ve been very fortunate.”

She attributed her success to her customers’ support and said the hours give families with pre-school and school-age children alike a chance to attend.

“We have a lot of good customers who have supported us through the years, and we have customers who have just joined us,” Vaughan said.

Fun at the arcade and batting cage, plus concessions, comes with a charge, Riemann said.

“We have Dippin’ Dots [ice cream], which is new this year,” Vaughan said.
