Town’s 1st Open Art Show set
Farragut Arts Council is seeking artists for the Town’s first juried 2017 Open Fine Arts Show.
“We feel it is our mission, as the Farragut Arts Council, to bring the joy and appreciation of fine art to the community and to support artists and art by sponsoring art shows of all levels of accomplishment and all genres of art,” Pam Ziegler, Arts Council chairwoman, said.
Sue Stuhl, Farragut Parks & Leisure Services director, said the Council held an art and flower show, a similar concept, in 2014.
Artists are being asked to submit their works between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20, at Farragut Town Hall.
The show is slated to take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, through Friday, Feb. 17, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, in Town Hall, 11408 Municipal Center Drive near South Campbell Station Road in Farragut.
Entries will be juried Saturday, Jan. 21.
“The juried art works will be reviewed and selected by a working artist [to be announced],” Stuhl said, adding that 75 works of art will be exhibited.
A reception for the artists is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17.
The art show is open to all living artists and it will be an exhibition of works in all media that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled and representative of trends in art, Stuhl said.
The work must be original and completed within the last five years, she added.
Art is to be picked up between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, and the selection notification will take place Wednesday, Jan. 25.
Awards are sponsored by Farragut Arts Council.
“The best of show receives a cash award of $300,” Stuhl said. “First place [winner] receives $200, second place [winner] receives $150, third-place [winner] receives $100 and People’s Choice [winner] receives $50.”
There is an entry fee of $40 for up to three entries.
