Prosperity Pointe, not your average assisted living community

A new assisted living community offers a concierge physician on site for its clients.

Dr. Noi Nuyen, founder and medical director,

and wife, Jamie Nuyen, family nurse practitioner, opened Prosperity Pointe Assisted Living & Memory Care and welcomed its first resident Dec. 1 at 214 Prosperity Road, Knoxville. They are planning a ribbon cutting March 3, at the state-of-the-art community located off Executive Park Drive in the Cedar Bluff area.

“I provide all the medical care or they can go to their own physician,” Nuyen said. “So far, people want to stay with me.

“I am there on a daily basis,” he said. “I know how they are recovering from an injury, for example. And, some people can’t go out because of mobility issues.

“It’s really a place you can get personalized patient care,” he added. “You don’t usually get that on a daily basis [in many assisted living facilities].”

Nuyen worked in retail and nuclear pharmacy for seven years before he obtained a degree in internal medicine at AUC and completed his residency at The University of Tennessee. He has been working in a hospital setting with a specialty in adult medicine before founding Prosperity Pointe.

In his role as emergency room doctor, Nuyen said he saw a lot of senior citizens in their 80s and 90s who come into the hospital and thought he could assist them in an assisted living environment.

“A lot of the patients I saw on a daily basis were assisted living patients,” he said. “Their families ask what [are their loved ones] going to do when they get out of the hospital? They need a home.”

So the role of a medical director of an assisted living facility was a natural move for him.

Nuyen said he had been looking at the Cedar Bluff location since 2014. It previously was a functioning hotel but had closed because the former owner had medical issues.

“I thought there was a need in the area, so I looked at [opening the assisted living community],” Nuyen said. “The property was already zoned for and being converted into an assisted living facility.”

Jamie Nuyen began her career as a registered nurse in 2009, received board certification as an FNP in 2015, when she graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a Master of Science in nursing degree with a concentration of FNP.

Through the years, Jamie Nuyen said she has worked in hospital emergency room medicine, intensive care, long-term care and adult and geriatric medicine.

Besides assisted living services, Prosperity Pointe provides specialized memory care services, day care, short-term respite care, a theater room, hospice care, concierge physician care in and out of the hospital, a 24-hour nursing staff, handicap-accessible transportation, all private rooms, which includes furniture, meal, snacks, trips, hair salon, activities, physical therapy and all-inclusive pricing.
