• In regards to (a recent Letter to the Editor), I’m curious of the reasoning of both the Alderman Bob Markli and (a recent pro-Markli Letter to the Editor author wishing) to put a law in place requiring a gun in each house. With Markli being in (a) conflict of interest for the last nine years, do we really need this hard-nosed drill sergeant mentality? ... According to a book I recently purchased in the (Farragut) Museum called “Full Speed Ahead,” this is not what the founders of our Town had in mind when they incorporated Farragut 38 years ago.

• I was wondering, are they ever going to tear that barn down on Concord Road? It’s kind of an eyesore, a half-burnt barn. It looks like they’d make them do something with it.

• I’m one of those conservative Farragut entrepreneur business owners that was really puzzled that the Mayor (Ralph McGill) and one of the aldermen (Robert “Bob” Markli) voted against the Hotel/Motel Tax, which (is) a real stab-in-the-back. I don’t consider myself really as one of the leaders in the Town, but instead, like all my hard-working friends in the restaurant business, we lobby for as many visitors as possible to stop in, joining the locals to eat with us. The funds that would be raised by this passed-on money from the travelers would really go to support the new tourism program advertising that would bring more patrons into my restaurant. The more patrons, the more sales tax and the more money that stays in the Town of Farragut. The degree (to which) these nine hotels owners have had no visible plans to support the tourism program — even though it will cost them nothing — in my opinion it will hurt all the restaurants and the retail shops in Farragut for many years to come. So I would encourage all my local Farragut patrons to vote for candidates who have got our future in mind, and put their confidence and support in our pro-retail business leaders like (Aldermen) Ron Williams, Ron Pinchok (also vice mayor) and Louise Povlin.
