Ads (34-0), McMinn (39-0) to battle at Bill Clabo Field

Senior defensive back Tanner Corum’s first three interceptions of his Farragut Admirals career came in the same game — a huge part of an Admirals defense forcing seven turnovers in a 34-0 romp against Bradley Central at FHS’s Bill Clabo Field Friday, Aug. 17. “My defensive line was doing their job with pressure on the quarterback,” Corum said.
Matt White’s 80-yard interception return for a touchdown sealed victory in the third quarter. He also caught a 30-yard TD pass from quarterback Gavin Wilkinson and recovered a fumble.
Running back Kyle Carter, a senior, rushed for 194 yards on only 13 carries while scoring twice. “The line opened up great holes for us. ... They were pancaking guys,” Carter said. Gabe Hensley added a 1-yard touchdown run.
Linebacker Eli Purcell led the Ads defense in tackles with seven, while recovering a fumble. Linebacker Benji Cheatham and defensive back Jon Buell added six tackles each. Cheatham also forced a fumble, and joined Caleb Kuhn and Billy Seal with a sack each. Hensley and Neyland Harmon also recovered fumbles.
One of Brady Hodges’ punts was downed at the Bears 1. Kicker Daniel Bethel nailed four extra points and five kickoff touchbacks.
Next up for the Admirals is a McMinn County team coming off a 39-0 home rout versus rival McMinn Central. Opening kickoff at FHS is 7:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 24.
