‘Taste T-Creek’ Sept. 7
For the sixth year in a row, area residents can enjoy delicious food and contribute to a good cause during the “Taste of Turkey Creek” from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 7, in front of CRU Bistro and Wine Bar.
Proceeds will benefit the Pat Summitt Foundation, an organization honoring the memory of the winningest basketball coach in collegiate history who succumbed to Alzheimer’s Disease in 2016.
The event is hosted by Pinnacle at Turkey Creek, which has partnered with the Foundation since 2013 to offer “Taste of Turkey Creek” to the community.
More than 20 restaurants, including Bonefish Grill, Flemings Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Pei Wei Asian Diner, Gavinos’s Pizzeria, Zoes Kitchen and Mimi’s Café, have committed to participate, all of which are donating their unique cuisine to the cause.
Adult beverages will be provided by Total Wine & More, hosting the event’s wine bar, and Yee Haw Brewing, offering a selection of craft beers. All guests will have the opportunity to sample ice cream inspired by Summitt’s own vanilla ice cream recipe, according to organizers.
Tickets are $25 each for adults, and $10 for children ages 6 to 12. A 1,500 ticket cap is in place for the event, which sold out last year, said Sunny Biden, director of public relations for the Pat Summitt Foundation.
“It is our most unique fundraising event,” said Biden, who noted $75,000 has been raised over the last five years from “Taste of Turkey Creek” alone.
“The Taste of Turkey Creek draws more people annually than any other Pat Summitt Foundation event … such enthusiastic support from (its) sponsors and guest make it possible for the Foundation to fund Alzheimer’s patent care, caregiver support and clinical research,” Pat Summitt Foundation executive director Patrick Wade stated in a press release.
“It is an honor for our team to host this amazing annual event,” said Darryl Whitehead, general manager for Pinnacle at Turkey Creek. “The generosity of patrons, restaurants and sponsors speaks to the timeless legacy that is Pat Summitt. It is another year, and another chance to honor Pat.”
New this year is the offering of VIP tickets at $75 each, which will give ticketholders a special VIP entrance, reserved and shaded seating area, a private bar and additional catering options from Bonefish Grill, winner of the 2017 People’s Choice Silver Knife Award.
