Horne, TPA president/farragutpress owner, praised by Jones
In case some of your readers may not have heard the news, the owner of farragutpress, Doug Horne, has recently become the new president of the Tennessee Press Association. As a longtime newspaperman in Tennessee and former TPA president myself, I’ll have to say I think Doug will make an outstanding leader for the Association.
Members of my family, especially including myself and my late father, John M. Jones, have known and admired Doug for decades and have watched with admiration how his efforts and talents have resulted in remarkable achievement in virtually any endeavor he undertakes, whether it be in the realm of business, politics or philanthropy.
More importantly, I know Doug to be a man of great integrity. In fact, I have entered into more than one significant transaction with Doug based on a phone call or a handshake. I knew then, and still know, beyond a shadow of a doubt that I could trust Doug. It’s rare these days to find someone whose word is literally his bond.
Doug Horne is such a man.
I think the people of West Knox County are well-served by having their local newspaper owned by a man whose honesty and outright commitment to the progress of his community are unquestioned.
While it is an honor to be chosen to lead an organization as significant as the Tennessee Press Association, it is equally an honor for the TPA that a person of Doug’s calibre is willing to serve in its top spot.
I offer my deep congratulations to Doug and to the TPA.
