Webb soccer falls at Halls
KNOXVILLE — Webb School of Knoxville’s girls soccer team closed the 2018 regular season on a losing note Thursday, Sept. 27.
The Lady Spartans saw their losing streak continue with a 3-1 setback to Halls High School on a rainy and sloppy night at HHS’s Dink Adams Field.
“This is the first time that I’ve ever lost to Halls, the first time in 22 years,” Webb head coach Sonny Trotter said after watching his team drop to 7-3-2 on a night where playing conditions were treacherous even on artificial turf. “But you have to give Halls credit. .... I think they really wanted this game more than we did. Halls improved to 5-4.
“This weather took us a little out of our game,” said Avery Catlett, Webb senior and leading scorer who tallied the only Lady Spartans goal in the 64th minute. “We just couldn’t overcome things and beat the adversity that we faced tonight. The weather hurt us.”
Lady Devils goals came from Kendall Medders (20th minute). Cierra Huff (23rd minute) and Ella Campbell (79th minute).
