Earning Division II-A East Region title match, CAK soccer is 2nd
KNOXVILLE — As the Christian Academy girls soccer team entered the Division II-A East Region Championship match, it was riding a crest of momentum: the Lady Warriors had won seven consecutive matches after a difficult start.
But streaks are made to be broken and the Lady Warriors saw their good fortune run out in a 2-0 loss to Chattanooga Christian School (17-3-2) Saturday afternoon, Oct. 13, at CAK. The Lady Warriors (10-9) couldn’t overcome fatigue that took its toll after a pair of tough regional contests.
But Lady Warriors head coach Ried Estus was far from disappointed after the game.
“We came in here after playing two big games. Boyd Buchanan made us work [in the region tournament opener (Tuesday, Oct. 9) and Webb made us work,” Estus said. “We were a tired team today, and I think that showed.
“Now we’re going to go to Nashville and if we win (a State XII game Tuesday, Oct. 17), we’ll play in Nashville again on Saturday (Oct. 20),” he added.
“We’ve really improved over the season this year,” said Lydia Heinz, CAK senior midfielder. “We’re a lot different than we were at the beginning of the year.”
