Webb girls own Small Divison-II state c-country
FHS girls 2nd in Large-1; Catholic’s Renfree No. 1
NASHVILLE — With three of the top four state finishers, including senior state champion Niki Narayani (18:20.43), and five of the top 13 finishes in the Small Division-II girls cross country state meet at Percy Warner State Park, Webb School of Knoxville rolled to a state championship (31-98 versus runner-up St. George’s) Saturday, Nov. 3.
Senior Lindsay Holliday finsihed third (19:02.76) and fellow senior Taylor Cosey fourth (19:10.76), The Spartans also saw junior Kamryn Krishnan take 10th (20.47.78) and senior Caroline Ross 13th. Sophomore Erin Jones was 21st and senior Isabel Papenbrock Romero 25th.
Meanwhile, Webb’s boys were fourth led by junior Banner Evans finishing eighth (17:16.21) and senior Will Miller 18th.
In Division I Large, Knoxville Catholic senior Jake Renfree was boys state champ (15:25.58). Area high finishers were senior Joshua Ebbert of Farragut (24th), teammate Eli Sharp, a senior (31st), freshman Kaden Keller of Hardin Valley Academy (32nd), Bearden senior Nathan Worley (41st) and HVA freshman Nathan Hills (44th). The Hawks finished fifth.
Farragut’s Lady Admirals, Region 2 Large champs, were a close second in Nashville (130-155) behind the state champion Knoxville West, finishing No. 2 in region.
Farragut’s top finishes were sophomores Cathy Hu (27th) and Summar Ebbert (30th) and senior Maggie Atchley (43rd).
Sophomore Callie Tucker of KCHS was the area’s top Large Division I finisher (14th). Teammate Eleanor Mancini was 29th.
Hardin Valley Academy sophomore Cathryn Jardet claimed 16th, teammate Kensi Gray, a senior, was 31st, and Ellie Bachmann, a junior, took 37th.
