Latest FHS Stars of the Month
“Rylie is a great ambassador for our school. She makes good decisions and is a role model for others,” said Susan Bolinger, then FHS director of College Counseling, on her reasons for nominating Richardson. “She is active in SGA and is an officer for the senior class. She has exceptional drive and character and is a strong leader for the school. She will be doing amazing things in the future.”
Dr. Cedelle Niles, FHS English teacher, said about nominating Ratliff, “Mack is deserving of this award for several reasons. He is a conscientious student who has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
“He is a thoughtful, kind and well-mannered young man,” he added. “In addition, he is a member of the Farragut High School Boys varsity basketball team and track & field team. Whether on the basketball court or in the classroom, he gives 110 percent. As a senior with many responsibilities, Mack is a model student who balances extra curricular activities and his school work.”
Star Athletes of the Month were Brooke Christian, Lady Admirals basketball, and Mason Thurnaeur, FHS wrestling.
Averaging around 10 points per game with a field-goal percentage above 50 percent on the season, Christian “has helped her team to a 23-5 record thus far in the 2018-19 season,” FHS principal Ryan Siebe said.
“Mason Thurnauer had an 11-4 record through the month of December. Mason took a second place finish at the Catholic meet,” Siebe added.
Star Staff Member of the Month was Holly Matthews, FHS Humanities librarian. “Holly Matthews is an award-winning librarian who has been at Farragut High School for six years. She has a heart for students and her innovative library displays and promotions truly involve students in the media center,” Siebe said.
FHS Stars of the Month program is sponsored by Teri Jo Fox and Eric Whitener with Crye-Leike Realtors, and Tanya Ickowitz of Patdome Promotions.
