Seniors’ In-house rehabilitation clinic added to Park Place Independent Living
Park Place of West Knoxville has expanded its facility to include Ageility PT Solutions, an in-house rehabilitation clinic.
The 83-apartment independent senior living community, located at 10914 Kingston Pike, celebrated that expansion with a ribbon cutting, hosted by Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce, Wednesday, Feb. 27.
The rehab clinic provides physical, occupational and speech-language therapy.
“We have everything that you would find in a regular physical therapy clinic,” Ageility PT Solutions rehab director Kimberly Markel said.
Park Place of West Knoxville, owned by Five Star Senior Living, includes independent living, rehabilitation at home, wellness, personal care and respite care.
“Five Star is beginning to implement the Ageility program in many of its communities,” said Dana Watkins, marketing director.
“We had a gym in the building and we repurposed it,” Miriam Kloster, Park Place executive director, said of the expansion. “We refurbished (the gym) and brought in new state-of-the-art equipment.”
The clinic has a Biodex seated elliptical machine, two recumbent bicycles, E-Stim (electrical stimulation) ultrasound machine for pain relief and retraining muscles and various weights and balance-challenging equipment.
“I think it’s a really good service,” Markel said. “A lot of times people aren’t able to go out due to transportation issues, and they may not been approved for home care.”
Ageility not only serves Park Place residents, it also assists people living outside its community, Markel said.
Additionally, Markel said Ageility offers a separate fitness program for individuals who do not need therapy but simply wanted to work out.
“We wouldn’t need a doctor’s order for that (program),” she added.
