Dragon Boat highlights: photo finish, $215k raised

It was literally a photo finish in the Women’s Division Grand Final as No. 3 Dragon Boat, WiNS - Mother of Dragons, edged No. 2 Dragon Boat, 12 For 12, by just .01 of a second during Knox Area Rescue Ministries’ 17th Annual Dragon Boat Festival on Fort Loudoun Lake at The Cove at Concord Park Saturday afternoon, June 22.

By just .01 of a second, WiNS — Mother of Dragons (1:12.38) nosed out 12 For 12 (1:12.39) in the Women’s Division Grand Final of 17th Annual Knox Area Rescue Ministries Dragon Boat Festival Saturday afternoon, June 22, on Fort Loudoun Lake at The Cove at Concord Park.

In Open Division Grand Final, BenchMark PT edged runner-up Tennova No. 1. Mixed Division Grand Final champ was TN Heat of Tellico Lake (1:01.01), slipping past runner-up SVN Driftwood Ducks (1:02.11).

Most importantly, Dragon Boat teams and fans raised $215,000 for KARM, which was extremely close to its goal of $225,000.
