Ex-FBI agent opens A & A Investigations

After spending 25 years as a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent, Farragut resident Ricky Hill’s opening up A &A Investigations and Consulting Group was a natural transition.

“After 25 years in the FBI, investigating, I decided to do something of my own,” said Hill, chief manager and owner. “This was the area I just felt the most comfortable with.”

Hill started the home-based business two years ago, providing his expertise to corporations, businesses and individuals.

“When I decided to open A & A, I wanted to ensure any client would have the same expertise as, what I consider, the No. 1 law enforcement agency in the world — the FBI, which trained me,” Hill said. “I want to bring that expertise I learned as an FBI agent to my clients.”

His business is two-fold — investigation and security consulting.

On the investigative side, Hill said, he helps corporations identify internal and external fraud, whether over the Internet or e-mail; thefts from their employees; and Worker’s Compensation claims.

He then would help them build processes to protect against those types of penetrations.

“From the private individual, we do typical family matter investigations, from divorce to parental kidnappings, and surveillance to assist either corporate clients or individuals,” Hill said.

“Right now, we’re focusing on active shooter (scenarios),” said Hill, an active shooter trainer.

He finished up his FBI duties working counter terrorism, which he did for about six years.

“I transferred from Knoxville to Washington, D.C., to provide management of a section of the FBI’s counter terrorism program,” Hill said. “My final year, I spent at the CIA as a representative of the FBI.”

After retiring from the FBI in 2012, he helped Health and Human Services build a counter-intelligence overseas program and monitor attempts to steal sensitive information from it.

After completing that contract three and-a-half years ago, Hill returned to East Tennessee.
