Construction delays prompt Parade’s new starting point
Ongoing construction on Lendon Welch Way — the direct access road into Farragut High School from Kingston Pike — is not yet completed, which is affecting both the staging area and starting point for this year’s Independence Day Parade.
Because of limited access to and from the high school, the Parade will take West End Avenue to West Point Drive, and enter Kingston Pike in front of Firestone Complete Auto Care around 9:30 a.m., today, Thursday, July 4.
Parade vehicles and other participants are to use West End Avenue to access the FHS Junior parking lot below the CTE building, where the parade will be staged according to a press release from Farragut’s Parks & Recreation Department.
Parking and drop-off for Parade participants will be at the Farragut Intermediate/Middle School parking lot.
Because of limited access to the staging area, participants are encouraged to arrive by 8 a.m.
Parents of children participating in the Parade are asked to drop off their children either in the FIS/FMS lot or park and walk their children to the junior lot.
Vehicles and parade “floats” were tp be dropped off anytime after 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, as the parking lot will be staffed overnight, the press release stated.
