New center to open on 40th?
Small-scale business area near McFee roundabout to be considered
With construction of Farragut Community Center having begun in early June according to Town administrator David Smoak, a completion date has been targeted.
“We’re trying to get open, having a ribbon cutting, on our 40th anniversary (incorporation) date of Jan. 16,” he told Shop Farragut/Farragut Business Alliance members during their monthly meeting Thursday, June 20, in Town Hall.
The center, in the former Faith Lutheran Church building along Jamestowne Boulevard near Campbell Station Road, will share the former church building with a new Knox Senior Center (moving from Strang Center, which is just outside of Farragut).
“Cross your fingers and hope everything works out great,” Smoak said. (See Alderman Scott Meyer’s column on page 4A)
Small scale McFee biz district?
As part of a possible ordinance change, which is suggested in the Town’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Smoak asked, “McFee Road near the roundabout, does the possibility exist of having a small commercial-condo presence down there?
“It wouldn’t be anything big box or anything like that. Very small scale,” he added.
