Megan Thomas, co-owner of Knox Cabinet Co., has joined forces with long-time friend, Brian Davis, to bring a “boutique feel” to cabinet shopping at their new company along Hardin Valley Road.
“We have been friends for a very long time and have been talking about opening a cabinet showroom for a long time, and we finally did it last October,” Thomas said.
Knox Cabinet Co. sells and installs cabinets, countertops and accessories at a 2,500-square-foot structure that was once a house, providing a “boutique feel” for the customer.
“We want to have that small feeling that’s just very customer-centric,” Thomas said. “We have been really lucky that we have taken off like we have.”
In fact, they already are opening their second location in Maryville.
“Brian has been in the residential and commercial real estate market for a very long time,” she said. “He developed neighborhoods, built houses, (did) foreclosures, a bunch of rentals. You name it — he’s been there, done that.
“He’s brilliant when it comes to business,” Thomas added of Davis, co-owner and chief operating officer of the company.
“He actually got me involved in real estate back in 2006, teaching me the tricks of the trade.”
Thomas, who is handling sales and marketing, brings to the business her background in sales.
“I have worked in sales pretty much my whole life,” she said.
“Probably for seven years, we have talked about there just being kind of a missing piece in the cabinet market,” Thomas added.
“For that, you’ve really got a site that might specialize in one brand to going to a showroom that is just so overwhelming. You’ve got so much stuff … and it really doesn’t feel like home.”
So, Thomas and Davis wanted to create a “boutique feel” for cabinetry, Thomas said. “Anyone could come here and have a comfortable shopping experience.
“Our thing is catering to any budget. Our biggest thing is customer service,” she added.
“It doesn’t matter what your budget is, customer service is at the forefront of our minds and making sure we work with the budget you have, not the budget we are trying to sell you on, to get you your dream kitchen, bath, whatever.”
Knox Cabinet Co. is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturdays; and closed on Sundays.
