Massey 1 of 15 in U.S. to earn M-Health honor MHA award
State Sen. Becky Massey (R--6th District including parts of Concord) has received the 2019 Mental Health Legislative Champion Award from Mental Health America, a leading national non-profit group dedicated to addressing the needs of those living with mental illness.
Massey was presented the award at the National Conference of State Legislature’s annual meeting in Nashville last week, where only 15 lawmakers nationwide received the prestigious recognition.
The award is presented each year to lawmakers for leading efforts of mental health reform, including fighting against cuts to mental health funding and making suicide prevention for youth and substance use treatment a priority.
“This is a most cherished award, which I appreciate greatly,” Massey said.
