Matching ‘Mission Pack the Bus’

Following this year’s successful “Mission Pack the Bus” by Mission of Hope, held in front of OfficeMax in Turkey Creek during tax-free weekend July 26-28 in which five pallets of school supplies and $1,786 was raised for the effort, Turkey Creek Shopping Center made a matching donation to the project. Mission of Hope executive director Emmette Thompson, third from right, recently accepted the check for $3,512 from Kiley Niles, director of marketing for Turkey Creek. Also pictured, from left, are Jason Milanich, general manager of Blaze Pizza, which donated free pizzas to Mission donors; Liz Peterson of The Little Bus Company, which provided the school bus used to collect the donations; Alan Sims of Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, which also donated free yogurt to Mission donors; and Harry Browne, print supervisor for OfficeMax.

It was the sixth year Turkey Creek organized the school supply drive benefitting Mission of Hope’s 28 adopted Appalachian schools, helping more than 12,000 rural children in Southeast Kentucky, Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
