Champion of Children Award goes to Massey

State Sen. Becky Massey, (R-District 6, which includes parts of Concord), Senate Transportation and Safety Committee chairman, was honored with the “Champion of Children Award” for making a difference in the lives of children.

The annual award is from Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee, an organization praising the Knox County lawmaker for helping to secure additional funding for evidence-based home visiting in Tennessee.

“It is so important to invest in the lives of young families and children,” said Kristen Davis, CEO at PCAT. “Having the support of Senator Massey and Rep. Bill Dunn (House Speaker Pro Tempore, R-Knoxville, also a recipient) was a critical component in securing funding to continue and expand evidence-based home visiting across the state, and we want to honor their hard work and dedication to making lives better for children.”

Davis said the action to extend funding has resulted in more families gaining access to these critical services.
