• I just read (the Oct. 24) Presstalk, and I couldn’t agree more with the individual who recommended that we just paint the (retaining) wall on Campbell Station Road, and I think it will look grand.

• I’m calling in response to ThroughTheLens from Thursday’s (Oct. 24) farragutpress, where the Rev. John Mark Harrison (First Baptist Concord senior pastor) and the Rev. Sam Midgett (FBC youth pastor) were helping Farragut High School put on an awareness event. The question was, “What do we think about the role of churches helping (public) schools?” I think it is awesome that churches can help schools, and I’m really excited about partnerships like that. For example, when I was growing up they had a “fifth quarter” after football games. The church would give a Safe Place for students to go (instead of) partying. They could come to a Safe Place; they had free pizza; just have a place where everybody was invited … people weren’t left out. It just gave a safe place for people to hang out and just be together after a football game. That’s just one tiny example, but it’s a really neat thing for churches and other non-profit-type places to help out our schools because our kids really need the extra support right now with all of the things that have gone on lately.

• I think the wall on Campbell station road would be a good place for a mural of our beautiful Town.
