• Austin Oakes has been selected as The University of Tennessee’s executive director of capital projects. Oakes currently serves as assistant vice president for facilities management at University of the South. Michelle Crowder, who served as interim executive director, now will serve as senior director of capital planning.
• Hampton Inn Knoxville/Papermill recently received the 2019 Lighthouse Award from Hilton Worldwide for the third consecutive year. The award is given to the top 5 percent of Hilton properties. Additionally, Hampton Inn & Suites general manager Adrian Zarczynski received the General Manager of the Year Award in the small property category from Tennessee Hospitality and Tourism Association. He also received the PAULY Award for Outstanding General Manager by Greater Knoxville Hospitality Association.
• Matthew Mench has been named interim vice chancellor for research and engagement at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, heading Tickle College of Engineering’s Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Biomedical Engineering, effective Dec. 1.
