Back on track, Admirals romp LC
LENOIR CITY — After a tough December and rough opening performance in 2020, Farragut needed to vent some frustration with a dominant performance.
Lenoir City was the perfect opponent for such venting, as the Admirals (11-9 overall, 3-2 in District 4-AAA entering the week) built a big lead midway into the opening quarter and cruised to a 79-29 victory Friday night, Jan. 10, at LCHS.
“We haven’t been playing up to par lately, so I feel like it was a game where we were trying to really get back on track,” said Isaiah Smith, sophomore guard who tossed in 16 points.
“We’ve struggled in this middle part of the season after starting off hot,” said senior guard Robby Geron, who led the Admirals in scoring with 17. “We executed really well and played a lot harder than we have lately.”
Other Farragut scorers were senior wing Kaleb VanAcker with 13, junior post Jake Wallace adding 11 and Jack Wrapp, Elisha Brabson and Saish Malluri scoring six each. Zain Zitawi and Carter Mayfield added two points apiece.
Individually, “I thought Robby played extremely well,” Admirals skipper Jon Higgins said.. “I thought he showed great leadership both offensively and defensively. He was very active getting his hands on some balls defensively. ... When Robby is playing that way, he kind of sets the tone for everybody.
“Isaiah starting making some shots, Elisha started making some shots, and you saw the end result tonight,” Higgins added.
