Next career step for Brock is salon, men’s grooming
Knoxville resident Danielle Brock has branched out to open her own salon, Danielle Brock Designer Cuts, specializing in men’s grooming.
“It was just time to take the next step in my career,” she said. “(Opening her own business) was something I always wanted to do, getting into the industry.”
Brock moved into Studios West Salon Suites, next to Angela Floyd Schools and David’s Abbey Carpets, 10843 Kingston Pike, Dec.1.
Growing up in the Merchants Drive area, she noted, “I love (having a business) in this part of Town.
“Everybody comes to this side of town,” Brock added. “I like how it’s kind of close-knit around here — everyone likes to support each other — so I knew it was the right fit for me.”
Along with men’s grooming, she also offers women’s and children’s cuts.
“(Women’s cuts are) definitely something I’m excited to get back into,” Brock said.
Although she does not provide color processing for women, she does provide gray coverage processing for men’s hair and beards.
Brock’s studio offers a cozy, more intimate ambience … “like walking into a home,” she said.
“I like to consider myself just a down to earth,” Brock added. “So, being able to come into a space like this, I can be more personable. I’d just like everyone to feel like family, just trying to make it a friendly, comfortable, relaxing atmosphere.”
With her cutting system, Brock prides herself in what her clients like while also recognizing “what their hair is able to do.”
Prior to her own salon, Brock was with Frank’s Barber Shop off Northshore Drive for five years.
Starting her own salon “just worked out really well,” she said. “The universe just, kind of, put it all together for me.”
Brock’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday; from 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesday; and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday. The salon is closed Friday and Sunday.
