Town Hall, Community Center to close at 5 p.m., March 23; staff will be on hand for information

“In an effort to reduce community exposure to COVID-19, Farragut Town Hall and Community Center will close to the public beginning at 5 p.m., Monday, March 23, until further notice. Staff will continue to report to work and provide services to the community,” a Town press release stated when released only minutes ago.

"We're all facing the battle of COVID-19 together and we will only get through it by taking the necessary precautions that have been outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and our state and local health departments,” Town administrator David Smoak stated in the release. “In order to keep our employees and the public as healthy and safe as possible, we will be closing both Town Hall and the Community Center to the public until further notice.

“Staff will be available by phone and e-mail, and building inspections will continue as scheduled," he added. "We'll continue to update the public if further operational changes are required in the future."

“The Town's permitting process will continue online,” the release further stated. “The Knox County Clerk office located at Town Hall is scheduled to close on Monday, March 23.”
