Spangler: report any KCSO officers asking ‘letter of authorization’ to travel if stopped

As reported by WATE-TV, Channel 6, Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler has announced he has not authorized any KCSO deputies to pull over citizens demanding a “letter of authorization” to travel.

Knox County citizens reportedly have filed complaints saying they have been pulled over and asked for the “letter of authorization” to travel.

Spangler said any citizen pulled over and asked for such a “letter” should ask for that officer’s identification, badge number and agency.

Anyone experiences such a stop, and obtains the officer information, is asked to contact KCSO at 865-215-2243 or e-mail Crimetips@KnoxSheriff.org.
