Preparing for a tentative Saturday, June 20, opening at its new Hardin Valley location, Matlock Tire Service & Auto Repair hosted a ribbon cutting Friday, June 5, sponsored by Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce, for its fifth location, 10832 Hardin Valley Road. On hand to celebrate included, beginning second from left in front, Knoxville Chamber of Commerce president/CEO Rodney Grugin (blue shirt and tie); Lenoir City Mayor Tony Aikens; Matlock owner Jimmy Matlock; Jimmy’s wife, Dean Matlock, with scissors; David Noe, with sign, operations manager for the Hardin Valley location; Tim Williams, Farragut location manager; Joe Matlock, vice president; and 5th District Knox County Commissioner John Schoonmaker (blue sport coat). Also on hand included Farragut Mayor Ron Williams (behind Aikens). Jimmy’s father, Joe Matlock, started the business in 1958 in Lenoir City. Locations followed over the years in Farragut, Maryville, Athens — and now Hardin Valley.
