Koller, Osorio earn MDG Scholarships
While Farragut High School Marching Admirals band competitions and FHS concerts — even its annual band banquet — all had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual Michael David Greene Scholarship for FHS band seniors was awarded.
Earning this honor, increasing to $4,000 this year for the Class of 2020 because of matching funds from a non-profit that supports education, were Zachary Koller and Terence Osorio.
Koller played percussion for the Marching Admirals, along with indoor percussion, concert band, jazz band and percussion ensemble.
He plans to attend Pellissippi State Community College to earn an Associate of Science degree.
Osorio, who played trumpet for the Marching Admirals and FHS concert band, also has been awarded places in the Tennessee All-East Band (2018, 2019) and the All-East Orchestra (2020). He plans to attend the
University of Tennessee, Knoxville,
and major in chemical engineering.
Fifty-two FHS seniors have been awarded the scholarship, which was established in 1995 in memory of FHS student Michael David Greene, who played trumpet in the band.
Ken Carrico and Elizabeth Gott are FHS band directors.
