FHS receives $7k boost from PTSO
Farragut High School has at least $7,000 more than expected after its Parent-Teacher-Student Organization decided to give the funds to the school.
“We’re thrilled. This enables me to spend as we need,” said FHS principal Dr. John Bartlett, who just finished his first school year at Farragut, “… We haven’t decided how we’re going to spend it yet.
“Normally after our PTSO has granted our teacher’s wish list items, supported Graduation Celebration, hosted a huge end of the year Teacher Luncheon, etc., we are able to provide a gift to FHS of around $1,000,” said Susan Horn, PTSO chairman in charge of the organization’s “Bypass the Backpack” newsletter, stated in the newsletter.
“This year, because of your generosity and since we weren’t able to hold our normal events, the PTSO is able to give a Gifts to Schools check of over $7,000,” added Horn, also chair of Knox County Board of Education as its 5th District representative. “Of course, we’re very sad we weren’t able to finish the school year as expected but really happy to provide these funds to help the administration as they continue to update our campus and make it look as lovely as possible.” Bartlett, who has spurred improvements to the school’s appearance, said there is still work to be done — such as more painting.
