The Joint Chiropractic grand opening

After a five-month wait, The Joint Chiropractic celebrated the opening of its first of five clinics, 1015 Parkside Drive in Turkey Creek next to U.S. Cellular, with a belated ribbon cutting hosted by Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce Friday, July 17.

“We want to introduce chiropractic care to the normal person who’s not used to it,” said Ron Nichols, who co-owns the franchise with his twin brother, Dean Nichols. “There are so many people who don’t understand the benefits, and those people who do are the people who are our first members.”

At The Joint Chiropractic, “we only do adjustments,” said Ron, who also owns the franchise for three Massage Envy locations in Knoxville. “We refer out all the other major chiropractic issues, if there are any.”

He explained anytime someone has had a car accident or other injury, that person “needs to go to a physical therapist or a doctor.

“We have people travel near and far to come and get adjusted because they have seen the beauty of what an adjustment can actually do,” Ron said.

Dr. Stuart Humberg, a chiropractor at the clinic, said it “places its emphasis on the structural and functional integrity of the spine.

“I think that it’s important for people to realize that the nervous system controls and coordinates all functions of the human body and that the nervous system is protected by the spine,” he added.

“Structural shifts in the spine can alter the nervous system and ultimately cause things such as headaches, arm pain, leg pain, etc. If there is a structural shift found in the spine, we will address that with the chiropractic adjustment, and when necessary, the proper exercises.”

While the clinic had a soft opening Feb. 7, the grand opening was delayed.

”We had planned in January to do (the grand opening) Feb. 7, but it just sort of fell apart with the pandemic, Ron said. The Nichols brothers plan to open four more in the area.

“We have franchise rights for five (clinics),” he said. “We will open the second one in Bearden probably around the first of September. ...”

Hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays; and closed Sundays.

Customers can simply come into the clinic for service — “no appointment necessary,” Ron said. “Just walk in and say, ‘I want to get adjusted.’”
