Reader, 91, seeks to thank anonymous person who paid her $139 medical bill
I would like to thank the Good Samaritan for his generosity on July 3.
I was picking up my medicine at Walgreens at the corner of Lovell Road and Kingston Pike. I usually charge my medicine on my Discover Card. However, it did not work. The total was $139.
Fortunately, I had my checkbook with me, so I sat down to write a check. The store clerk ran over to me and said, ‘Don’t write a check.’”
Of course, I was very surprised. She said a gentleman who had been standing behind me paid my entire bill in cash. He disappeared so fast I couldn’t even thank him.
I had not talked to him or even looked at him while I waited. The clerk said she had worked at Walgreens for 10 years and this had never happened.
This gesture proves there are still good-hearted people in our world. We need to hear something positive, especially at this time.
I hope he reads this. My sincere thank you to him.
