Results from the Thursday, Aug. 6, Knox County General Election and Town of Farragut Non-Partisan Election, plus Primary results from Federal and State races are listed below (results are limited to those more directly affecting Farragut, Hardin Valley and Bearden voters, and are limited to contested races):
Knox County/General Election
County Commissioner 5th District (which includes Farragut):
Republican John Schoonmaker defeated Democrat Kimberly Peterson 66.81 versus 33.19 percent.
County Commissioner 4th District: Republican Kyle Ward defeated Democrat Todd Frommeyer 53.91 versus 46.09 percent.
Law Director:
Republican David Buuck defeated Independent Jackson Fenner 63.14 versus 36.86 percent.
Public Defender (unexpired term): Republican Eric M. Lutton defeated independent Sherif Guindi 65.56 versus 34.44 percent.
Those re-elected who were unopposed included Susan Horn, 5th District Board of Education (non partisan); Republican John R. Whitehead, Property Assessor; along with Terry Hill, unopposed as 6th District County Commissioner, and Judge Kyle Hixson, a Republican, unopposed as Criminal Court Judge Division II District 6 (unexpired term).
Federal/Primary
In the U.S. Senate GOP Primary, Bill Hagerty defeated Dr. Manny Sethi 50.8 versus 39.4 percent among a field of 15, though Sethi edged Hagerty in Knox County 47.73 versus 44.09 percent.
In the U.S. Senate Democratic Primary, Marquita Bradshaw won with 35.5 percent. Robin Kimbrough received 26.6 percent and James Mackler 23.8 among a five-person field.
In Knox County, however, Mackler led with 31.95 percent, followed closely by Bradshaw at 31.39 and Kimbrough getting 25.43.
Vying for the Democratic nomination in the 2nd District U.S. House of Representatives contest, Renee Hoyos soundly defeated Chance C. Brown with 87 percent. In Knox County, Hoyos collected 87.84 percent.
Court of Appeals-Western Division/General Election
In a vote to either Retain or Replace Judge Carma Dennis McGee on the Court of Appeals-Western District, voters statewide chose to Retain by a 72.69 percentage. In Knox County, the Retain vote was 74.06 percent.
Town of Farragut Election
There were no contested races, for either North or South Ward Alderman, in the quest for a seat on Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen (non partisan). Vice Mayor Louise Povlin retains her Ward I (North) seat, as does Drew Burnette in Ward 2 (South).
State (General Assembly)/Primary
State Senate 6th District Democratic Primary: Jane George defeated Sam Brown 63.88 versus 36.12 percent.
