Enthusiastic crowd turns out for H-Wellness Expo

Shop Farragut/Farragut Business Alliance inaugural Health & Wellness Expo was “well-received by a small, but enthusiastic crowd of 350 during the five-hour event” in Farragut Community Center’s Assembly Room Saturday, Aug. 8, according to Steve Krempasky, Alliance executive director.

“I think this is neat,” Farragut resident Victoria Hayes said as she walked through the event. “I’ve lived here for 14 years, and I like to see what Farragut has to offer, and I love this Community Center. I think it’s wonderful.”

“I love it, lots of really great information,” Julie Harper said.

“I appreciate having something to get out of the house,” Rexana Johnson said. “This quarantine is driving me crazy, and I wanted to see what they had.”

“Trade shows are a good application for this type of room,” Mayor Ron Williams said.

Vendors, from Knoxville Aging in Place, fitness facilities and Actfast Inc. to His Security & Technology and Cyan Medicare & LTC set up booths in the Assembly Room and gym, offering tips, products and even a demonstration or two.

“Patrons made a point of making their way through both halls and visit each of the 30 different vendors,” Krempasky said.  Social distancing and other Tennessee Guidelines were in effect and made the activity safe and enjoyable.

“Vendors were delighted to have this opportunity to showcase their businesses at this time,” he said. “Many have not had a chance to get out since early March.”

“It’s good, getting out and greeting people,” said Dale Dennis, a pre-arrangement counselor for Dignity. “We were unsure of the participation, but it looks like people are getting out and seeing what’s going on.

“This was the first pubic event for Shop Farragut in the new Community Center,” Krempasky added. “It was very educational and instructive.”

The second Farragut Health and Wellness Expo is planned for Saturday, Jan. 8, 2021.
