Pinnacle’s ‘refresh’
Construction to begin this fall on new look, surprise amenities planned for center’s fountain area
The Pinnacle at Turkey Creek is getting a “refresh.”
Its owners are building a new fountain area, located between The Loft and Talbott’s in the mall, over the winter.
“The bowl (fountain) is going to be removed, and there’s a new amenity going to be put in there,” said Darryl Whitehead, Pinnacle general manager.
“That will be the home of the Imagination Library (box) and quite a few events,” he added. (See related story on page 3B)
Construction will commence the latter part of this fall and continue into next spring, Whitehead said.
“That’s our goal,” he added. “(The completion date) depends on Mother Nature. We really haven’t had a strong winter in years, so we’re due for one, maybe.
“(The refresh is) going to level the ground out — it’s kind of tiered — and there will be new plant material and a fresh, new look to the property.”
The fountain area, or Phase 1 of The Pinnacle, was constructed in 2005.
“About two years ago, the ownership was on the property and realized that a lot of the events we do here require not only proper space but retooled space, whether it’s Taste of Turkey Creek or Fido Fest or Sounds of Summer … as well as Lights Up,” he said.
“It’s (the owners’) investment into the property, and they figured the property needed a refresh within that area,” Whitehead added. “On top of that, we just installed, throughout the entire property, free public Wi-Fi.
“We were working on it to start early this spring, and then we all got hit with COVID and (the project) stopped.” But work is expected to begin in the fall.
“Right now, (the new area) is just open space,” Whitehead said. “It allows us to put food trucks in, it allows us to create events — social distancing, there’s quite a bit of space in there — new plant material and just an overall refreshing of the property.”
Some fun features are being kept a secret “yet to be unveiled” to surprise Pinnacle visitors, he said, smiling.
“The ownership asked for our opinion, as a team, what we would like to see there, and it was really driven by all the events that we’ve produced over the last eight years (of) what we think could really help,” Whitehead added.
“It’s going to be so fun and cool and unique when it’s completed. It will be a nice stand-out.”
