Bearden football down for two weeks; CAK goes to D-Boone
With COVID-19 striking high school football programs here and there across the state, Bearden High School is unable to play its first two games of 2020 — both set at home.
Its scheduled season opener had Knoxville West coming to Bill Young Field tomorrow (Friday, Aug. 21), while defending Class 6A state champ Maryville was to visit Aug. 28.
Morgan Shinlever, BHS head coach, said he had no details at deadline on possibly rescheduling either game.
Meanwhile, Christian Academy’s season opener at Volunteer, set for tomorrow evening, was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns from the Upper East Tennessee program, not CAK.
The Warriors have rescheduled and will travel to Daniel Boone in Gray, near Johnson City (7:30 p.m. start, Friday).
