Skin Care Cottage features Morgan, Alyssa specialties
Alyssa Clemons and Morgan Carrell are sharing space at Saah Salon Suites, 102 S. Campbell Station Road, as each opens her own esthetics businesses.
While Clemons operates Alyssa at The Skin Care Cottage, Carrell operates Morgan at The Skin Care Cottage, opening their businesses Tuesday, Feb. 9.
Clemons provides facials, full-body waxing, chemical peels and formal make-up applications, while Carrell provides facials using Sanitas products, chemical peels, microderm abrasion, dermaplaning and full-body waxing.
Clemons said both she and Carrell offer the top skin care brand, Sanitas.
“Soon we’ll be offering spray tanning as well,” she said.
Carrell said she soon would be offering eyelash extensions to the menu.
Clemons’ interest in esthetics came about after she attended college for three years.
“I decided that it wasn’t for me,” she recalled. “I decided to go to beauty school to be an esthetician because I always loved skin care, make-up and everything like that.”
Carrell was working in a medical spa in Seymour but wanted to branch off on her own.
“It’s been my dream since probably, 16, to have my own spa,” she said.
The two met in Tennessee School of Beauty in 2019.
“We were inseparable in school, and then we both got different jobs,” Carrell recalled.
“We both worked at separate places doing esthetics, like skin care and everything separately; but then we decided to open up a business together,” Clemons said.
However, she added they decided to have separate business entities and simply share the space.
They took the plunge “to go for it” the first week of February, Carrell said. After researching, they chose Saah Salon Suites.
Opening in a salon suite allows new esthetics business owners an opportunity to build up the clientele and save to move up to a brick-and-mortar location, Clemons said.
Additionally, “you’re kind of like in a little community, so if you need help they will help you, recommend you and get your name out.”
The Skin Care Cottage businesses are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, with Clemons and Carrell rotating the hours.
