Spring ’21: hope, new look

Among the few dozen 2021 spring sports teams farragutpress will cover representing Farragut High School, Hardin Valley Academy, Bearden High School and five area West Knox private schools is the FHS Lady Admirals softball team. Bellamy Field, long-time home of the Lady Ads, enjoyed a major facelift prior to Nick Green’s 2021 team beginning what is hoped to be a full season. New features are everywhere (clockwise from top left): scoreboard, renovated pressbox, an “arched/branded” entrance, which matches the baseball Admirals’ entrance, and home seating now with back support along the first-base line. It also will be the first full season for use of the enclosed bullpen in the foul ground along left field. The Lady Admirals are hoping weather and the pandemic will be held in check so Green’s talented team will be able to play its home opener, which is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 23. versus none other than long-time rival Bearden, a District 4-AAA foe.

The Lady Ads’ following home game also features a district rival — and sometimes nemesis — Maryville, with the first pitch scheduled to be thrown at 5:45 p.m., Monday, March 29. Spring sports regular season play began Monday, March 15.
