Kitchen Tune-Up adds showroom

Kitchen Tune-Up can help customers fine-tune a kitchen without breaking the bank.

Owned and operated by Wesley Steese, it celebrated the opening of its showroom, 10870 Murdock Drive off Lovell Road in Knoxville, Monday, March 1.

“But, we’ve been in business longer than that,” office manager Jeanette Pelfrey said.

Jackie Wolford, project manager, said the business switched hands to Steese in June 2019, but the prior owner bought the Knoxville franchise in 2016.

”We specialize in remodeling kitchens,” Pelfrey said. “Our primary concern is the cabinets, but we also do countertops and flooring.

“I mean, we’ll do everything: backsplash, we can remove walls — it depends on the wall — but we see ourselves as a complement to cabinet shops, not so much a competitor because our main focus is on remodeling, and in that, we offer some different services,” she added.

The company offers four core services, Pelfrey said.

“We offer tune-ups, which are taking your existing wood cabinet and bringing it back to life, like 95 percent of the original condition,” she said.

“Then we also offer painting services, so we can paint your old cabinets,” Pelfrey added. “We also offer re-dooring and re-facing.”

Kitchen Tune-Up also offers new cabinets, and if a customer wants to configure their kitchen slightly — have an island instead of a peninsula, “we can absolutely take care of that,” she said.

“We like to be a little more economical — we’re definitely not the cheapest person you are going to find — but if you have (cabinet) boxes (frames) in your home that are of sound quality, we can use those and get you at a little lower price point versus demoing your whole kitchen and stripping everything down,” Wolford said. “I think that’s what sets us apart is we have that flexibility to be able to really work with the customer and see exactly what they want to get out of their kitchen.

“We can still do graphic designs and renderings of your kitchen, but we do like to use what’s currently there and kind of work around that,” she added

“A lot of customers say my boxes are perfectly good, I hate to throw them away,” Pelfrey said.

Kitchen Tune-Up can help customers who “are trying to salvage their cabinets, just change colors or get a fresh look without completely breaking the bank and demoing their entire kitchen,” Wolford said.” We can do a re-door or a re-face in about five days, depending on how big your kitchen is. … It’s a little more economical of an update.”

Kitchen Tune-Up does a lot of organizers and rollouts as well.

“We can changes your hinges to soft close, we can change your drawer boxes to be a little bit bigger,” Wolford said.

Kitchen Tune-Up is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and closed Saturday and Sunday.
