‘Realty deal’ clears TopGolf build path
The long-awaited deal to break ground for the nationally popular TopGolf attraction, to be located along Outlet Drive in Farragut, has enjoyed a “closing” in terms of getting the parties aligned property-wise.
“The TopGolf project is moving forward,” said Trevor Hobbs, assistant to the Town administrator, about Sam Furrow closing on his property along Outlet Mall Drive with RealtyLinc, which will lease the property to TopGolf in addition to Alamo Draft House and a yet unnamed restaurant among other possible attractions.
“I have received confirmation that the … purchase of property has gone through,” Hobbs announced during the monthly Shop Farragut/Farragut Business Alliance virtual meeting Thursday morning, March 18.
“So, I think here shortly we’ll see that that project starts to materialize,” he added. “The Town has already approved (TopGolf’s) plans for construction and everything.
“TopGolf just needs to pick up their permits pretty much at this point. I think that project will be very beneficial for the community.”
In retrospect about any concerns the deal might collapse, Town Mayor Ron Williams said, “Any time you have a pandemic in the middle of a project fixing to happen, you do have a certain amount.”
However, the mayor also said he thought the deal was “solid” all along, being “not so much if, but when” concerning TopGolf following through and coming to Farragut.
Williams said the next thing to look for visually along the TopGolf site is “the contractor putting silk fence up. And at that point be able to start grading. ... They’re going to be grading here pretty soon.”
He also pointed out that each TopGolf nationwide has its own type of businesses located as satellites.
“What they told me back months ago was that each one of these — I think RealtyLinc has 14 of these that they’re property owners on — that each is different,” Williams said, adding he was told, “‘Each one of them has different (businesses) that flock to them to be with them, or around them, when they open.’
“Whether it be a hotel, a restaurant, a dinner theater ... .”
