• At 10:22 a.m., Sunday, March 28, Knox County Sheriff’s Office units responded to Snyder Road in reference to a wreck. Officers located a black 2004 Ford Crown Victoria, which appeared to have been driven through the fence of a storage facility before striking a tree. “Officers observed substantial blood in the vehicle and on the walls of the facility as well as a blood-soiled shirt — however, the vehicle was unoccupied,” the report stated. Through investigation, officers were able to locate the vehicle owner/suspect at his residence.
Knoxville Police Department officers spoke with the suspect about the incident. Suspect stated he was leaving the Cotton-Eyed Joe when he wrecked his vehicle. He also stated he was, in fact, driving and he did not have insurance on the vehicle. A records check revealed the owner/suspect did not have a valid drivers license. Suspect stated he left the scene after the accident and was given a ride to a local hospital to seek medical attention.
Officers reviewed security footage of the incident and determined at 3:18 a.m. that day, the vehicle came down Snyder Road at a high rate of speed, leaving the roadway and striking the fence and tree.
“Officers also observed a second vehicle that appeared to be chasing the Crown Victoria, which also left the roadway — (but) left the scene a short time later,” the report stated. Suspect stated no one else was with him nor was anyone chasing him. Suspect was issued a misdemeanor citation.
A KCSO forensics officer responded and processed the scene. Estimated value of damage the storage facility fence was $1,000. Vehicle was towed to Cedar Bluff Towing.
• At 5:43 a.m., March 28, a complainant called KCSO Teleserve Unit to report vandalism at a Butternut Circle residence. Complainant advised he last saw his door in normal condition around 6 p.m., Saturday, March 27.
He stated when he woke up around 4:30 a.m. the next morning he noticed his door had been damaged and glass shattered. Estimated value of damage was listed at $1,000. Complainant advised he believes an unknown object was thrown by an unknown individual and damaged the door. Victim said he would be in contact with his homeowner’s insurance, State Farm, in regards to filing a claim.
• At 8:54 a.m., Wednesday, March 24, two officers responded to Publix, 11656 Parkside Drive, in regard to a bus that had still not been moved after one of the officers told the arrestee/bus operator to do so two hours prior. Officers made contact with the arrestee inside his bus in the parking lot. Officers spoke with the arrestee, who refused to cooperate with officers by not allowing officers to pat him down (Terry pat is legal term) for officer safety.
Due to the arrestee’s attitude and actions, officers determined the offense likely would continue. Arrestee’s wife was not on scene, but was contacted at work to move the bus. Publix agreed to wait on the bus to be moved before store officials would have it towed. Officers placed the arrestee into custody without incident.
