‘Great game’ finds Webb edging CCS

Labeled “a great high school game” by Webb School of Knoxville softball head coach David Moore, his Lady Spartans got a two-hit, 13-strikeout performance from senior pitcher Jamie Sharp — allowing just one walk — in a 1-0 win against Division II-A district rival Concord Christian School Tuesday evening, March 23.

Sharp “did this on her 18th birthday. A good birthday present,” Moore said.

Hannah Bruce scored on Bryan Lawson’s ground out in the top of the seventh. Bruce and Kylie Bridwell had one hit each for Webb (1-1 record starting the week

Defensively, “Megan Gilbert made a good catch up against the right-field fence for the defensive play of the game,” Moore said. “Jamie worked out of a bases loaded, one-out jam in the fifth with back-to-back strikeouts.

“It was a big win for us.”
