Independence Day Parade to return Saturday, July 3

After COVID-19 concerns cancelled last year’s annual Town of Farragut Independence Day Parade, officials are preparing to host the popular event this year — but on Saturday, July 3, as Independence Day, July 4, falls on Sunday.

The parade, which runs from 9:30 to roughly 11:30 a.m., will travel from the Farragut High School parking lot to Kingston Pike, then head west to Boring Road, the end for each parade entry.

Kingston Pike will be closed from Concord Road to Boring Road (about 1.4 miles) starting at 8:30 a.m. until around noon, according to Sue Stuhl, Town Parks & Recreation director.

• Parking for parade participants (and spectator parking) will be available in the main Farragut High School parking lot (senior/teacher lot in the circle) and can be accessed from the school entrance off North Campbell Station Road or at the Farragut Middle School parking lot, which can be accessed from West End Avenue.

Along with general parade info, registration for parade entries currently is being accepted on the Town’s Parks and Recreation website, townoffarragut.parksandrec.org/, where a prominent badge is located to click on for sign-ups.

Line up for parade vehicles will be in the FHS junior parking lot (not the circle lot) below the CTE building. Parade vehicles and floats may park in their line-up number slot in this lot as early as 5 p.m., but no later than 10 p.m., Friday, July 2. A guard will be on duty at the parking lot all night.

Access to the high school junior lot is available from North Campbell Station Road and West End Avenue via Kingston Pike. Access from Lendon Welch Way (Stadium Drive) will not be available. All entries must be in place no later than 8:30 a.m., Saturday.

Due to the high number of parade participants, allow at least 30 minutes from Campbell Station Road and Kingston Pike to the high school parking area. Only parade vehicles will be allowed in the line-up area.
