• Town of Farragut will host a free Lunch and Learn on healthy aging from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday, April 19, in the Assembly Hall of Farragut Community Center, 239 Jamestowne Blvd. Discussion to center on what you can do to make your brain more resistant to cognitive decline. Bring a lunch. Pre-registration by Friday, April 16, is required. Register online at townoffarragut.org/register, in person at the community center or by phone at 865-218-3375.

• Applications for adult and youth representatives to serve on Town of Farragut volunteer committees are being accepted. These are working committees, and applicants should be willing to give time to monthly meetings and committee projects and/or events. Some committees require a background in a professional area. There are openings on the following boards and committees: Arts & Beautification Committee, Farragut Museum Committee, Farragut Education Relations Committee, Farragut Tourism/Visitor Advisory Committee, Board of Zoning Appeals, Board of Plumbing & Gas/Mechanical Examiners, Parks & Athletics Council, Stormwater Advisory Committee and Visual Resources Review Board. Civic-minded high school juniors or seniors who live in or attend school in Farragut are encouraged to apply to be a youth representative. Selected candidates are expected to take part in all discussions, but will not have a formal vote. For information about available opportunities and an online application, visittownoffarragut.org/youth. Application deadline for youth and adults is 4 p.m., Friday, May 14.

• Registration is under way for the 37th Annual Bob Watt Youth Fishing Rodeo, set for Saturday morning, May 15, at Anchor Park. Event is free and open to children ages 12 and younger. Two rounds of Rodeo will be offered: from 8 to 9 a.m. and from 10 to 11 a.m., according to organizers. Participants are limited to one session per child. Pre-registration, which runs through Wednesday, May 12, is required for the 75 spots available during each session, and may be accomplished by visiting www.townoffarragut.recdesk.com/community/program. Those attending should bring their own fishing poles if possible, although limited poles on site will be available to borrow. Winners will be contacted after the Rodeo, and their prizes will be mailed.

• Farragut’s McFee Park splash pad, 917 McFee Road, is set to re-open for the season Saturday, April 24, and will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through the last weekend in September. According to the Town’s Parks & Recreation website, it may close daily from 2 to 3 p.m. for maintenance.
