Moore ‘very proud’ of Webb softball after locking up a winning ’21 season
Webb School of Knoxville softball guaranteed a winning 2021 season (a final 11-9 record) by beating Grace Christian Chattanooga 16-5 Wednesday, May 4, in a region battle.
Grace Jeneva Mitchell was four-of-four at the plate, including a double, while knocking home two runs and stealing two bases. Taryn Breeden scored three times and had for two hits, including a triple.
Megan Gilbert connected for a single and double, producing two RBI, and scored two runs. Hannah Bruce and Madelyn Ladd had three RBI each in the one-sided victory.
Despite a season-ending 15-1 loss to Lakeway Christian Academy in the playoffs, “ I am very proud of the improvements we made as a team this season,” Lady Spartans head coach David Moore said. “Having a winning record and making the region were big steps and two of our goals. Thank you to all my players for their hard work.
“Good luck to Jamie Sharp, our only senior,” he added. “We look forward to having everyone else back.
“Also thanks to coaches (Susie) Skinner, (Margaret) Baudendistel and (Hannah) Stephenson for all their help and hard work.”
