BHS STEM essay entries earn share of $30k mini-grant

Among two schools in Knox County that earned UCOR mini-grants based on essay entries — $30,000 in grants for 40 projects in science, technology, engineering and mathematics going to 30 East Tennessee schools — came three from Bearden High School.

Two of the BHS entries came from teacher Timothy Cathcart titled “Smart Home System” and, with the help of BHS student Kevin Bridges, “Battery Backups.”

Fellow Bearden teacher Jami Aylor also earned a mini-grant share for “The Functions of Management with Legos.”
