Hardin Valley Academy Class of 2021 held its commencement ceremony Wednesday evening, June 2, on the school’s football field.

This class of 487 earned $32,061,235 in scholarships, led by valedictorian Owen Anthony Cianciolo and salutatorian Kaylyn Ngoc Thuy Tran. Graduate Dominique Romain, who will attend Yale University, earned the prestigious Hawk Award.

Principal Dr. Rob Speas — whose daughter, Riley Elaine Speas, was among those graduating — referenced the four empty chairs to the front and left of where the graduates sat, which served as a memorial to assistant principal Ken Dunlap and HVA students Elise Kersch, Ben Howell and Maddie Purcell who died during the school year.
